Newschooler.com Member Takeover, 382’s March Mayhem & Battle My Crew
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph the second annual Three Eight Two Battle My Crew event at Loon Mountain which was abuzz with activity, from the March Mayhem competition to Douglas Bishop’s 29th birthday celebration.
A few of the athletes were staying with me and we kicked off the weekend by cramming into a car with Giray Dadali at the wheel and tried to find the Woodward Hotel and Resorts where, it would seem, 50+ Newschoolers.com members had crammed themselves into the small rented room of NS.com’s Doug Bishop. Sponsors, athletes, and event coordinators got a chance to mingle with only one unfortunately broken window.
On the slopes, the March Mayhem event was a visual treat — Skiers like Lil’ Jon Strenio showcased their talent, and I was there to capture every jump, twist, and turn. The unique jib and rail setups at Loon provided some great shots, especially with skiers like Andy Parry, Will Wesson, and Giray Dadali in action.
The NS Hostile Take Over, led by Mr. Bishop, was a different kind of party, from the quirky challenges to the scream-offs which continued into the night. From karaoke sessions to dance-offs, every moment was a potential shot. One of the highlights was Mr. Bishop’s performance of “As Long As You Love Me” by the Backstreet Boys.
382’s Battle My Crew followed the next day. Crews competed fiercely, and in the end, Stept took the top spot.
