After a long stretch of travel, I finally touched down in Åre, Sweden for the Jon Olsson Super Sessions.
The journey started Friday night in Vermont. From there, it was a six-hour drive south to New Jersey to catch a direct flight to Stockholm. The flight itself was uneventful, but once I landed early in the morning, things got interesting.
With a few hours to kill, I sprinted around the airport trying to arrange a shuttle to Östersund that could take me the rest of the way. That process somehow included passing through security twice — and let’s just say the guards didn’t seem thrilled to see me making repeat appearances in the line.
By the time I reached Åre, I was running on about 26–27 hours without sleep, waiting for a bus arriving from Norway to drop off the rest of the crew. Jet lagged, bleary-eyed, but wired with anticipation, I figured I’d grab a quick catnap and then head out into town to see what Åre had to offer.
Travel rarely unfolds neatly, but arriving here — even in a haze — felt like the start of something worth the effort.
