A little over 4 hours drive south and east from Seattle, WA can put you at the base of Mount Hood. Mount Hood, or Wy’east as named by the local Multnomah tribe, is a volcano in Northern Oregon. Atop the 11,240′ peak sits 12 glaciers and snowfields including the Palmer Snowfield which allows for skiing and snowboarding nearly year round.
In June of 2016, I had just finished work on the sleeping platform for the back of my cab and coincidently, had to shuttle some skis from Seattle to Government Camp. It would be a perfect trip to give the mobile camping solution a test. I headed down to Hood and the snowfields with my wife and beagle named Frank for a bit of car camping and exploration.
