This past Sunday, having wrapped up Callan’s first season playing youth football with the 2nd and 3rd graders the prior weeks before, I returned to Franklin High School to volunteer at the concession stand for the EMASS Youth Football Super Bowl games. Having enjoyed photographing Callan’s team, I decided to return after volunteering and shoot the 5th Grade Blue team’s Super Bowl game against North Attleboro later in the day. The difference in size and speed of these older kids was remarkable, and it’s hard to believe that Callan will be at this level in just a few short years.
Remind me to tell him not to grow up too fast.
Despite a strong performance and impressive skills, the Franklin Panthers couldn’t secure a win against the Jets. Nonetheless, the sportsmanship displayed by both teams was heartening. Echoing the sentiments of North Attleboro’s coach, there are undoubtedly many exciting games ahead for these young athletes in the coming seasons!
