The Franklin Panthers faced off against the Norwood Mustangs in their season opener this past Sunday.
What’s the right metaphor to capture the mix of apprehension and excitement you feel while watching preparation and practice unfold on the field in real-time? I’m not sure, but whatever the words might be, they were mixed with a few “oh sh*t” or “f*ck yeah”—all muttered out of earshot— as I watched and photographed Callan and the Franklin 2/3 graders play their first game of the season.
In the end, the Panthers prevailed over the Mustangs.
