In the grip of the winter season — the winter doldrums, I found myself faced with the need to do something different— a change of pace to break free from the usual monotony. Inspired by this desire for a little creative shake-up, I decided to experiment with a self-portrait. The resulting image is both a playful deviation from the ordinary and a reflection of my readiness to step outside the box. Here’s what came out of that unique little exercise:
With the flair of a buttoned-up shirt, a tie, and a pair of sunglasses, all while clutching a can of PBR in hand, I found myself stationed where one least expects — in the shower. As unusual as it may sound, the experience did spark some much-needed amusement.
In any case, the confines of my house won’t hold my creativity captive for much longer. Tomorrow night, I plan to escape to the live music scene at Nectars where my talented friend, Kelly Ravin, is set to kick off his Wednesday night residency. I urge anyone and everyone to give his performance a shot; it all starts at 10 p.m. Nectars has consistently stood out as one of my preferred local venues, primarily due to its lighting setup that creates an excellent environment for photography. I’m hopeful that the evening will provide a handful of great shots to share. Stay tuned.

Jesus Dan. I’m moving today. We’ll start hanging out so you no longer have to drink beer in the shower.
